Garagio
June 29, 2018
Garagio is a concept album of 18 original songs inspired by the infectious popular music of the 1960s and 70s, spanning British Invasion, Motown, surf, dub, proto-metal, punk, and disco. Popular music from decades past is playfully decontextualized, reconstructed, and reinterpreted — a tour through AM transistor radios, jukeboxes, and garages full of amps and sweat.
Garagio is a critically-acclaimed celebration of the timeless popular music of the 1960s and 1970s… that also occasionally deconstructs and reinvents it.
Akin to flipping through stations from the past (with occasional interference from present and future ones), the narrative vehicle of Garagio also takes listeners through an assortment of both personal and historical human foibles, and occasional triumphs in response to them.
Popular music from decades past is playfully decontextualized, reconstructed, and reinterpreted—occasionally blended and evolved with modern sounds.
It's a love letter to music history: from British Invasion, Motown, Spaghetti Westerns, Surf, Dub, Proto-Metal and Punk, Disco, and beyond, "Garagio" pays homage to some of the greatest to ever do it, while carving its own unique path as something raw, exciting, and different.
In the end, the album is a tour through AM transistor radios, jukeboxes and garages full of amps and sweat, an electrifying, energetic crate-digging adventure bursting with unforgettable melodies and sprinkled with innovative, modern twists, offering the nostalgic sounds of summers past year-round.
Turn on. Tune in. Rock out!
